We have been studying plants and seeds in science class. Your child should be able to name the 3 parts of a seed—the seed coat, the stored food and the embryo or tiny plant. They should also be able to tell you what each part’s job is.
We have also been studying the parts of the plants. They should be able to name the 6 parts—roots, stem, leaves, seeds, flower and fruits. They will be able to tell you the job each of those parts has.
As an ending project for this unit, I thought it would be neat if each student made a seed chart with at least 8 different seeds shown and labeled. Even though it is fall, I know you will be able to find seeds in fruits and vegetables you have at home as well as seeds in your spice cupboard.
You and your child can decide how you want to present your seeds—on construction paper, tag board, in an egg carton, cupcake liners etc…Just remember to label the seeds.
The seed charts were due at school on Friday, October 19th. Check out the awesome projects below!!
